Times
What time should I bring my camper to camp?
Check in time is 6pm on Sunday and usually lasts about an hour. If you are going to be late please call 540-687-6274 and leave a message.
What time should I pick up my camper?
Pick up is the following Friday at 3pm. Closing worship is over at 2:55 and the campers come from worship to the parking area to be picked up. Please plan to be on time so that our summer camp staff can leave for their homes for a night of rest. Pick up and drop off of all campers is at the main camp parking lot unless directed otherwise.

Does the health Form have to be signed by a doctor?
While we do not require the health form to be signed by a doctor we strongly encourage it. The personal history part and parent permission part must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian.
Contacting Your Camper

Campers Name, Unit, Camp Highroad 21164 Steptoe Hill Road Middleburg, Va. 20117

Yes, you can use our online contact form and put the campers name in the Subject field. We will print it, and hand it out with the rest of the mail.
Can my Camper call me? Or can I call my Camper?
Campers do not have access to a phone. Please DO NOT SEND CELL PHONES WITH CAMPERS, they will be confiscated until they leave on Friday. If there is an emergency please call our clinic at 540-687-6274 and leave a message.
Food
My Camper has food allergies, who do I need to tell and when should I notify them?
The sooner you can let the office know about food allergies the better we are able to work with them. You can either call the registrar at 540-687-6262, use our online contact form, or send the Campers Health Form in early.
My Camper is a picky eater, what if he/ or she doesn't like the food?
Our menu is very kid friendly with foods like: chicken nuggets, pizza, tacos, and hot dogs. At every breakfast there is the choice of cereal and yogurt. Most lunches and dinners include salad, and Campers can also ask for a peanut butter and jelly or cheese sandwich.
Schedule
What will my camper being doing while at Camp?
The typical day at Camp is a busy one. On Sunday each unit will go to the Program Board and sign-up for their activities for the week. So while we can not tell you what activities each unit will do every day, there is a wide variety of items for the camper to select.
Homesickness
What if my child becomes homesick?
The best way to prevent homesickness is to keep it from occurring. Our Summer Camp Counselors learn during training different strategies for keeping Campers busy and actively involved in Camp activities to try and combat homesickness. You can help too before your Camper every leaves home by talking to them about what they can expect at Camp, if you attended a Camp as a child maybe you can share positive stories from your experiences. If your camper is having a difficult time we will call you and seek advice or ask you to come and pick them up. Also, we have several Open Houses planned at which time you and your Camper can come out to visit Camp, see where they will be staying, and get to meet some of the Staff. Be sure they meet Mr. Dawson, our Executive Director, and let your camper know that they can ask to speak to him if they feel that is necessary. You can also help by not overly emphasizing how much you will miss your Camper while they are away. This can actually make it harder for them and fuel potential homesickness.
Packing
Where can I find a list of what to pack?

Why does my camper need?
Long Pants? - Wranglers are required to wear long pants for riding, for other Campers they are optional.
Extra Shoes? - One of our most popular activities is Creek Hiking, and trying to do so barefoot isn't much fun, neither is wearing wet shoes the rest of the week because you wore your only pair on the Creek Hike.
Layers? - The weather at Camp tends to be cooler and often has a greater shift through out the day than it does in town so it is a good idea to pack a long sleeve shirt, and sweatshirt for cooler mornings or evenings.
Rain Gear? - At Camp we don't let a little rain slow us down! Our activities continue for the most part regardless of the weather. Also, to be able to get from where the Campers stay to places like the Dining Hall requires them to walk outside for several minutes at least.

How much money should I leave my Camper for the Camp Store?
We usually suggest $30, that's enough money for most things that they may want. Some campers like to buy gifts to bring home and that would require a little more. Please go over the store list.
How do I leave money for the Camp Store?
This can be done by check, credit card, or cash either when registering, or during check-in on Sunday.
Price Increase
Why has there been an increase in the cost of a week at Camp?
The increase in session prices is a result of two contributing factors: (1) Inflation and (2) continuing improvements taking place around the Camp. Over the course of the last year and a half we were able to add more permanent staff, more and better low ropes elements, and hire a catering company to improve the quality of the food service. We have also been working to enhance the adventure of off site trips and offering new programs like our week long Mountain Board Camp which is new this year. The changes and price increases are necessary so we can provide your Campers with the best possible program and experience here at Camp Highroad.
