Hello to all who enjoyed the summers of 95 and 96 - I see Laney of the summer of 95 has posted! The memories of the two summers I spent in Duck Inn will always bring a smile to my face. I have oodles of photos to remind me of all the great kids I had the pleasure of throwing from the platform at the top of the zip wire. The funky monkey lives on and I send hugs to all who remember my call! |

I just got back from Camp Highroads yesterday. I went there with my school, Louise Archer, and it was the best experience in my life I think. Vesper's Hill was just dubbed "Haunted Hill" in our school. People claimed a horse charged at them and I heard, along with 10 other people, drumbeats in the distance. Now people are begining to talk about a black ghost too.
At Camp I enjoyed the fires and all of the counselors were great. I just about cried when I left.
The zipwire was so cool, you should get more photos of it on here.
Camp Highroads was incredible, I will never forget it. I'll try to come back this summer, but my mom's a bit of a city person and she freaked when she saw the cabins. Honestly I didn't mind.
Then there was the battlefield. Jeb Stuart was a great guy, yet seems lost in most kids minds. Thank you Camp Highroads for making him appreciated. And thank you for the best time of my life! |

This has been the time of my life. I have only had the opportunity to attend camp highroad as a first time counselor this year. I must admit that @ the beginning, i was a little nervous because i did not know anyone and i thought that everyone would not like me but here @ camp highroad, everyone likes you for who you are . I am very glad that i made the right decision to come here to this summer camp. It has provided me with the opportunity to grow and expand my love and friendship towards others and to reach out to those in need and i thank each and every one for that. |

I was so excited to see this website. It brings back great memories. I was a counselor in 1985 and 1986. It was hard work but great fun. Seeing this website on Highroad brings back wonderful memories. I first went to Highroad in 1955 and followed up for 4 more years. I went to the Jr/Sr high choral camp for 4 years. It was the best experience I have ever had. I met lots of great people and have had lasting friends. Denny Edelbrock is a god-send. And for those who may not remember...Dale Anthony will always be loved and never forgotten. |

hi everyone ive been to this camp for 5 years!!! i love it there and its soooooooo prity. i done many things there the first year i went to the soccer camp all by myself!! then i love it so much i invited my 2 friends to come w/me one of them loved it the other one didnt like leaving her home then the 3 year i and my other friend alex invited my friend irin to come we had a blast thats when i met Alacia was our councelor then the 4th year irin went another week than alex and i but she had fun alex and i went to horse camp and meet annie and tifferboo Alacia was our councelor again hehehe then this year i went to horse camp again w/ annie and had fun then alex and i volunteered at highroad for a week and this year is a new adventer!!! REMBER THAT GOD LOVES MOOMOO |

Our troop had a wonderful time during our campout in April. Jessie and Vanessa were two of the most wonderful people I've met, and had a major influence on not only my girls but me and my co-leader as well. Kudos to Scott and Kim who instructed us through the zip line and ropes course. We will definitely revist in the Fall. I can't wait to send my daughter to the Summer Camp! Keep up the good work and continue to spread God's love. |

I went to Camp Highroad in the early to mid-'70s. What GREAT memories! The hikes to the old churches and the civil war cave. Sliding on the mud slide and making s'mores, baked apples and homemade icecream. Sing alongs, games, and ghost stories! - Does anyone remember "Sarah Fudgemouth"? The camp store and making "gimp" bracelets and key chains. The mudfight we had on the only rainy night, and sleeping out under the stars for the first time in my life. My best friend since I was eight years old went with me every year and we are still best friends to this day!! I am so glad that Camp Highroad is still up and running and giving kids the opportunity to have the wonderful, wholesome fun that we enjoyed as kids. Bless you all. |

I attended Highroad back in the mid 80's to early 90's. Man I miss those days!!! They were some of the most memorable experiences I have ever had. I am so greatful to my parents for finding such a great camp for me to attend. I can honestly say that I never missed a summer from elementary through high school. (I am now 4 years out of college) And I still look at old pictures from back then. I hope that one day when I have kids, that I will be able to send them here as well. I worked as a councellor in the summers of 96 and 97, The experiences have stayed with me ever since, They were some of the happiest times, I would recommend this camp for any camper or councellor, so happy this ministry is still thriving, would love to hear from any of the councellors from those years. Wow! Camp Highroad. I have the greatest memories of summer camp in the mid-'60s. Loved the whole experience. I'm so glad it's still going strong! My brother and I were both campers and my Dad was a counselor for several years. I remember fishing at the quarry, learning archery, star-gazing on Calvary(?), making homemade ice cream, singing LOTS of songs in the mess hall ... We were members of Trinity United Methodist in Alexandria back then. Glad to see Highroad's web site -- more photos! |
