Camp Highroad - Virginia Christian Adventure Camp

Spring Camp Is Around the Corner!

We're super excited to be hosting our first ever "Spring Camp" in 2012. This camp will run from March 31-April 1st, will focus on the gospel, and will feature an enormous assortment of camp activities to introduce, or reintroduce, campers in 3rd-6th grade to Highroad's awesome programs and staff!

Spring camp is in no way restricted to completely new campers, but is an ideal opportunity for a returning camper to bring a new friend to camp. Regardless, registration for this camp is half full and we can only take eleven more campers, so if you're interested then register soon! If you would like more information, head over to our Spring Camp page or, if you want to register, head straight to our Registration page to secure a spot!

Wranglers in Willow This Summer!!!

After many years of "roughing it" in the Locust Grove platform tents, our Wranglers voices have been heard!

Highroad is happy to announce that this summer, after hard days of tacking up their horses and riding the trails, Wranglers will now be enjoying hot showers, electric lights and COLD air conditioning in Willow Lodge! (Oh, don't forget that Willow is also outhouse free!)

While we strive to maintain an outdoor adventure camping experience, we also know that different generations of youth have different comfort levels. Because of that, we seek to maintain a genuine, quality outdoor experience (Example: Wranglers will still be doing their overnight trail ride…) in an environment that is challenging but enjoyable (Living with other people = Challenging. Living with other people in a house with air conditioning = Enjoyable).

We hope that all of our Wranglers enjoy this change and that it will allow them an opportunity to get to know their counselors better and to get better rest between hot days on the trail!

Challenge Course Level Three Complete!

As promised, level three is complete and we're continuing on to the next stages of the project. If you want to see a complete run-down of our progress, check out the slideshow on our homepage. If you haven't seen our cute "guided tour" of the new challenge course check it out here!

The holes that you can see in each of the platforms will allow us to install a spiral staircase that will run up the inside of the tower. Until that happens, the three levels will be accessed from either a staple climb or from the rock walls that we hope to build in the very near future! Funding anyone? ; )

We'll be posting on the challenge course again as soon as we begin the next stage of construction. In the meantime, we're thank God for a safe and productive first stage… and we look forward to our next circus act on the Camp Highroad High Ropes Challenge Course!

Challenge Course Level Two Complete!

Well, we're doing it… We have finished two of the three levels on the path to building the rock-climbing tower. The levels that we've completed are at 20' and 35', and we have one more at 50' left to go. After that, we'll move on to constructing the sides of the tower, on which we will then place our climbing holds.

It's exciting progress, and we hope to keep pressing forward as quickly as funding allows. Our first phase, including one functional level with a belay system and multiple elements, will be complete in March. We also have a functional Pamper Pole that will be available when the first phase of the course is complete (see video).

If you have any interest in helping Highroad press into the future, please don't hesitate to give us a call about group service projects, Eagle Scout, Gold or Silver Award, or Congressional Award Projects. You can also help us fund this exciting new venture by staying at Highroad or using our programs!
