Employment

Summer Camp Counselors

Hiring is closed for Gals! We still need more Guys for this summer.

Sorry Gals!

Being a Highroad Counselor isn't your normal summer job… For eight weeks you get to play a vital role in the lives of some of the six hundred children who come to Highroad each summer. As a counselor you will spend every day working hard to shepherd your group of campers, during and between activities. You will build relationships quickly, and will have the opportunity to use those relationships to share Christ with your group. On weeks when our camper numbers are down, your job as a counselor switches to that of a class instructor for Highroad's outside groups, such as the YMCA. During these "support" weeks, despite not being able to share Christ verbally, your attitude and actions can reflect a Christ-like selflessness and love that no one can ignore. Being a counselor isn't a job, it's a mission opportunity. Only if you bring a desire to serve God, a humble and cooperative attitude, and willingness to work hard over the long-haul, can you succeed as a Camp Highroad Counselor! Counselors must be at least 18 years-old and must have graduated from high school. Camp Highroad pays a minimum of $1,500 for the summer as well as covering food and housing. Staff Training runs from June 8th-14th, 2012 and Summer Camp runs Sunday-Friday from June 17th-August 3rd. Extended contracts are available for those interested in staying at Highroad after summer camp to continue work with our outside groups. Additional information will be sent to you upon completion of the Counselor Application. If you have any questions in the meantime, or if the online application gives you any trouble, please call or e-mail the Programs Director at (540) 687-3968 or programs@camphighroad.org

Counselors in Training (CIT)

Hiring is Open!

Camp Highroad's CIT program exists to allow younger individuals the opportunity to serve in a role similar to that of a Summer Camp Counselor. CITs work in all areas of the summer camp program and learn the responsibilities of the counselors. They are both mentored and mentors, as they help their counselors to shepherd their group of campers. Just like Counselors, CITs must have a passion for Christ, a desire to share that passion with their campers, and a strong work ethic! The CIT position is an unpaid volunteer position for individuals at least 16 years old. CITs are typically assigned a three-week contract for a specified period during Summer Camp. CIT training will be held at Highroad on June 9, 2012. Only a limited number of CIT applicants are selected each year so apply early and schedule your interview as soon as possible. If you have any questions in the meantime, or if the online application gives you any trouble, please call or e-mail the Programs Director at (540) 687-3968 or programs@camphighroad.org
