Winter Camp 2007! Winter Camp was held this year over Martin Luther King Jr. weekend in January and it was a huge success! We had 5 campers come out from different parts of the Arlington and Alexandria Districts. They had a chance to learn about winter nature, make some crafts, build with ice blocks, participate in a low ropes course, try out their archery skills, learn to build a camp fire, and they also spent time worshiping and learning about God. The kids had a great time and there are some new photos posted in our photo gallery. Be on the look out for registration for next years Winter Camp which will again be over the holiday weekend. |
Centreville UMC helps out at camp
Lead by Barb and Steve Shako, a hard working group of men and women from Centreville UMC came to Camp Highroad on Saturday, March 25th and worked on the Blue cabins. Centreville UMC has long been a strong supporter of Camp Highroad and they are responsible for many of the improvements at camp. This particular project was to build new porch roofs for the blue cabins, refurbish the insides of three of the cabins and install new window screens.
We at Camp Highroad are attempting to rebuild all of our 16 cabins have completed about half of them. Thanks to Sleepy Hollow UMC, Nokesville UMC, Arcola UMC, Centreville UMC and Gainesville UMC we are getting the job done. These churches have proven that large or small, young or old, all can serve the youth of our community through donations of material or money, working on site, or praying for the Outdoor Ministry. Our sincere thanks to these
wonderful volunteers. |
Winter Programs
We are offering three programs this winter for you to escape cabin fever and
recreate in God’s creation. Native Dyes Get Dressed for Diner, Winter
Weeds, and Winter Ecology are two-hour sessions designed for young people to
learn about nature and with unique hands on activities. “Tea Gone Wild” is a
ladies program which we will enjoy herbal tea made from plants on the
property and see how God’s design in the intricate and beautiful ecosystem
here at Highroad.
