Camp Highroad’s Canoe Program allows paddlers of all ages an opportunity to experience the beauty of the Highroad pond, to participate in friendly competition, and to gain competence on the water! Equipment, including life vests (mandatory!), canoes, and paddles is provided. Participants should dress appropriately, knowing that there’s always the possibility of encountering the pond!
Safety and basic paddling instruction will be provided by the canoe instructor before launching canoes. Then, depending on the age and experience level of the group, the instructor (who is a certified lifeguard) will facilitate games, provide additional paddling instruction, help identify wildlife in and around the pond, and provide rescue demonstrations and training for those interested.
